Arranger and pianist, Nathanaël Bergèse has been writing for all types of ensemble for the last twenty years. The music he created in 2018 for the animated feature The Tower (aka Wardi), by Mats Grorud, won the best soundtrack award at the Lisbon MONSTRA Festival in 2019.
His work ranges from composing original music for numerous short films (Les Mals Aimés – Hélène Ducrocq/Citron Bien cinéma, La pêche miraculeuse – Fabrice Luang-Vija/Fargo, Un lynx dans la ville – Nina Bisyarina/Folimage), improvising on silent movies, arranging music for advertising, to constructing sound identities and creating music for permanent exhibitions (À bord – Cité du Vin, Bordeaux).
He also provided musical supervision for several projects (Je sors acheter des cigarettes – Osman Cerfon/Miyu Productions, nominated for the César Award 2020). Among other performances, he composed the soundtrack for the collection En sortant de l’école (season 1) awarded at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in 2014.
Trained at the Villeurbanne conservatory along with the Conservatoire de Lyon, he also graduated in Jazz and in music composition for the image at the Valence conservatory, where he is now the head of department.
In 2008, he founded Adelie Prod, a musical edition company as well as a sound design studio dedicated to the image, located at the animated picture centre La Cartoucherie, in Bourg-lès-Valence, Drôme, France.
